Tale As Old As Time Afternoon Tea – The Kensington Hotel, London

Beauty and the Beast is our favourite Disney film. I used to watch it all the time when I was little and even had my own Belle dress to wear. Last Saturday we had a Mummy/Daughter Day in London which started with a Beauty and the Beast-themed Afternoon Tea at The Kensington Hotel. Firstly, this hotel is just stunning; so elegant and luxurious. I loved the decor and would love to spend a night here.

We were escorted to the Afternoon Tea area which had beautifully presented tables laid with a cup and saucer and a Belle dress cookie. We both went for the traditional English Breakfast Tea that arrived in a silver teapot; everything about this Afternoon Tea just oozed class. We were then presented with the first course, which included a bite-sized Venison Pie, Cheese Souffle, and Beef Ragu. The Cheese Souffle and Beef Ragu are there as they are mentioned in the song Be Our Guest, and the Venison Pie represents the wall-mounted Deer Head found in Gaston’s Tavern. This course was delicious and left us wanting more.

Next, out came the traditional Afternoon Tea with an array of sandwiches. As an alternative to scones, they had Sweet Brioche Baguettes with apricot jam and chocolate spread, referring to the local baker from Belle’s hometown. The sweet treats included Spiced Snow Ball Macaroons, Vanilla & Gold Jelly with a rose petal which was presented in shot glasses to represent the iconic rose in the dome, a Cogsworth Chocolate Clock Tart and ‘Try the Grey Stuff’ White Chocolate Mousse showed in Chip.

I loved how they incorporated elements of the film into the Afternoon Tea, and our waiter told us in detail how they did. Lumiere, Cogsworth and Mrs Potts make a guest appearance at your table too, it all added to the magic. We loved this Afternoon Tea and would recommend it to anyone, for fans of the film this is a must!
