New Years Resolutions … A Month In

Firstly, how is it the beginning of February already? This year is already moving fast for my liking and by now a lot of New Year resolutions have probably already been broken. In my Happy New Year blog post, I spoke about some of the resolutions I’m making this year so now a month on I thought I’d talk about my progress.

1. Lose Weight/Exercise More
I am proud to say that so far, I have stuck to this and have lost a total of 5lb. Slow progress but I’m just happy I haven’t put on any! At the beginning of the month, I bought a load of exercise wear and accessories from PINK and along with the trainers Barney bought me for Christmas, I was ready to become more active. Again, I have started slow, I walk to and from the train station every day for work and on the weekend, I do a workout DVD at home and run a couple of laps around the park opposite. I’m hoping this is just the start of my exercise regime, I mean something is better than nothing right?

2. Eat Healthier/Cook More
So far, this year I have eaten out a total of 3 times and have had 0 takeaways. The times I have eaten out I’ve chosen healthier options including sushi, fish and veg and a light pizza with lots of salad. I make breakfast every morning and this usually consists of natural yoghurt with fruit and honey or porridge with almond milk and banana. I make lunch every day which includes lots of fruit and veg and am happy to say we have cooked a dinner every night. Our favourite dinners usually consist of fish, new potatoes and some stir-fried veg with soy sauce. During the week I eat healthily and then allow myself some chocolate, cake or crisps at the weekend. I’m also drinking a lot more water and green tea which is making my skin a lot more glowy.

3. See More Live Shows
I haven’t managed to see any live performances so far, this year, but as I’ve said before, I have a great selection lined up. In a week I’ll be heading to the O2 in London to watch GreenDay with Barney which I am excited about. We also have Frankie Valli to look forward to and have booked to see Ghost and DreamGirls the musicals further on in the year.

4. Spend More Time with Friends
Although I haven’t done as well as I could have, I have managed to go out for dinner twice in January with friends I don’t get to see often. I went to Pizza Express with my best friend Christina who I haven’t seen since my Birthday last year which is such a long time, but we have both been super busy. She is a friend I don’t have to speak to every day but as soon as we’re together, it’s like we’ve never been apart. I also had sushi and did a bit of shopping at Westfield with Luci, my best friend from University. This again was just like old times, Luci manages a bar, so her hours are the total opposite to mine but we have pledged to see each other once a month! I also have two dates in the diary for this month to see different friends that I haven’t seen since before Christmas, so far, this resolution is still standing.

I am so happy and proud that my New Year Resolutions are still going strong as previous years attempts have been disastrous. Ask me in 6 months and my answers will probably be different but here’s hoping I can keep them up!

How are your New Year’s Resolutions coming along?
