Ever since I can remember, my mum has always told me to look after my skin. From my early teens, I have been cleansing, toning and moisturising, and thankfully, I never got the dreaded teenage spotty skin. This isn’t to say I don’t ever get spots though because I do, in the most annoying places but I feel I now have a routine that prevents major breakouts.
I start the day by washing my face with just warm water and soap. This not only wakes me up but gives my skin a little natural moisture boost. I follow with Nivea Rich Daily Moisturiser Cream for Dry/Sensitive skin. I am prone to dry skin so feel this product helps to minimise the patches of flakiness, smells divine too.
After my moisturiser has dried, I then put on Nivea Daily Essentials Hydration Primer again for Dry/Sensitive skin. I don’t really wear a lot of makeup for work but feel this primer not only keeps the makeup I do have on in place but nourishes my skin and protects the concealer and powder from forming clumps.
The first thing I do when I get in from work is take my make up off. I wipe over my face with Nivea Gentle Cleansing Wipes to take the majority of makeup off. I then follow up with Micellar Water and cotton wool pads. I normally use Garnier Micellar Water, but for this month I’m trying Nivea Daily Essentials Micellar Cleansing Water for dry skin. The cleansing water allows me to get any scraps of makeup not taken off by the wipes to leave my face thoroughly cleansed and fresh. I finish this section of cleansing with Nivea Daily Essentials Rich Regenerating Night Cream.
This is the point I normally make and eat dinner and watch a bit of TV etc. I then will either have a long and relaxing bath or a hot shower and it is during this time that I’d use a face wash/scrub. At the moment I’m using Nivea and I love it. It is creamy and smells so clean, a little goes a long way!
After the bath, I would then do the full cleanse, tone and moisturise routine. For the past few months, I have been using No7 Soft and Soothed Gentle Cleanser, Gentle Toner and Essential Moisture Fluid. These products are a little more expensive than my trusty and loved Nivea, but they do the job. The products smell fresh and glide across my face so easily. No stinging occurs which has happened before with other products. They are what they say they are; soft, soothing and gentle.
I finish my facial routine with a little eye gel – I’m preparing for the wrinkles! I dab little squirts of the Cucumber Eye Gel from Boots around the eye area and it is easily absorbed. The soothing cucumber essence helps to hydrate the skin and reduce puffiness.
That’s it! Seems like a lot but once you get into the routine and have been doing it for a little while it becomes second nature. What are your facial product must-haves?
