Yesterday Barney and I had a little festive break away at a spa and it was simply wonderful and just what we needed. We packed the car up and travelled to the Hilton Hotel in Bracknell.

At 2 pm we sat down and had afternoon tea which was simply delicious. The selection was filled with sandwiches, cakes and my favourite, scones!

3 pm came and we checked into our room and it was beautiful. The bed was huge and was definitely looking forward to snuggling into that later. We changed into our swimwear and complimentary robe and slippers and made our way to the Spa. We started with a couples back massage which was incredible. Our masseuse literally got every knot out of us and within minutes we were totally relaxed. I didn’t actually realise how bad my back was until this. It’s definitely something I’d like to have every other month.

After our massage, we made our way to the pool and swam a few lengths. We also spent time in the jacuzzi and sauna, my favourite part. This spa was the perfect place to relax before the madness of Christmas begins.

After we were finished in the spa we headed back to our hotel and I lit a candle (Yankee Candle – Spiced Orange) and ran a bath. I bought some products with me to make it extra festive. I used The Magic of Christmas Bubble Wand from Lush and Deck the Baubles bubble bath from ZoellaBeauty which made my bath have masses of bubbles and smell like gingerbread, cloves and cinnamon. The wand also turned my bath orange for that extra festive touch! I then topped the bath off with the So White bath bomb from Lush, amazing bath! To wash I used Sugar Plum Fairy from Philosophy which is a nice sweet and festive smell.

After what seemed like hours in the bath, I got out and used Ginger Cream body lotion from ZoellaBeauty. I literally smell like a walking gingerbread cookie when I wear this.

To cleanse I used Liz Earle’s Limited Edition Winter Collection which smells of oranges and cloves. This leaves my skin feeling super soft and smooth.

We then chilled in the room for a bit, watched some tv and had a little nap. We then got ready and went downstairs for dinner. It was a buffet style which meant I ate far too much but got to try a variety of food.

Around 10 pm we rolled (literally) upstairs and had the deepest longest sleep I’d had in a long time. It was AMAZING. I think the spa made us so relaxed and tired that a good sleep was inevitable.

The next morning I woke up feeling so refreshed and went down to the spa for another quick swim. This was actually lovely to do and I wish I had the motivation to do this most mornings. I went back up to the room, had a shower and got dressed. We made our way down to breakfast around 10 am and again I ate far too much, pastries, fruit, yoghurt, sausages…

We went back to the room and packed our little suitcases and checked out. It was a lovely short break and the perfect way to unwind from the stress of our jobs. It’s so lovely to have 2 weeks off from now!

Let me know if you’ve ever been to this spa and what you like doing to unwind!
